In the <2011 The west coast highway song festival> of the artistic program, 'Infinite Challenge,' the members divided into several teams and confided their heart in members through some questions. One of some questions was "Among your team, is there any member who is different from what you expected?" At this question, Sweet Sorrow, a group of a cappella pushed the button and than said two stories. First, "June-Ha Jung does not spend any money for us during the working day. "It is not true!" said June-Ha Jung with putting dissatisfied expression on his face. And then they told the second story to calm down his anger. "His girlfriend is so beautiful and it is good to see them get along well." Then he showed his smile. At this time, Jae-Suk You suggested one thing to its production crew. His suggestion was to use Jung's reactions about two stories to make more interesting situations. "His girlfriend is so beautiful" then uses his previous answer l"It is not true!" as a response. After the comment "it is good to see them get along well", it would be funny, if "It is not true!" is used as if it was his response. Tae-Ho Kim, Producer of 'Infinite Challenge' showed a new editing version with a caption, "Nothing is impossible" behind June-Ha Jung's mention "No!" If the program had showed only the editing versions, viewers were would have been misled. In this regard, I have finally realized the power of broadcasting media.

Recently, we find the controversy of mass media or the Internet. Controversy of editing has existed in society for a long time. Recently, the problem has resurfaced. It was the core problem of the program called "I am a singer." The program was conducted in a form of survival among current famous singers. In this program, the producer used some audience scenes of one singer for another singer. After the broadcast, viewers of this program complained saying that "the producer manipulated views emotions with editing skills!". For this problem, production crews explained "It was just a mistake during editing process." Subsequently, an audition show, "Korea's Got Talents" also came under controversy. Because of controversy, they apologized for their mistake and broadcasted the original video. The controversy was that production crews removed a statement that included a challenger academic ability. So many viewers misunderstood and the challenger suffered discredit. For this reason, the production crew of this program was punished according to Korea Communications Standard Commission rules. Next, 'Superstar K3' also came under editing controversy with high ratings. An audition show on the cable TV, Superstar K3 broadcasted their arousing video that could not deal with by public TV networks. Producers knew that If they broadcast this controversial program, this program would cause a lot of controversies. However, they went ahead with the program though it contained violence and some sexual profanity to attract more viewers. Although they broadcast program with participants' consent, they has a major problem, exposure of cast's privacy.

What causes this problem to happen? Lately artistic programs choose the sensational and drastic editing to gain more audiences. This choice has impoverished the quality of program. If one looks at the bigger picture, most of the blame for the editing problem could be laid at the door of the production crew. They could not deny this blame completely but we should not overlook the fact that editing is purposely done to attract more views. Artistic programs are regarded as main programs of a broadcasting station. So broadcasters wish their production crews gain a larger audience. Therefore, production crews are having a burden of responsibility. There are many factors that contribute to high rating. Editing is one of the most important things for them. Good editing helps add spice to original programs. So editing accounts for a large proportion of high rating. Production crews who have different abilities to edit are being scouted by cable TV stations. This fact shows the importance of editing in the broadcasting system. Like this, editing has a great influence on programs. Thus, they cannot give up abandoning the editing from their standpoint. However, no matter how good they make the program through edits, if it could not satisfy public taste, the editing will be useless. Therefore, production crews try to find out information about new trends and follow them but viewers are so picky about programs due to a series of developments in social networks and the Internet. Sensational programs people nave have seen before in a television have a more immediate and vital influence. So things not sensational enough cannot gratify public taste. Likewise, trends and tastes of the public are excessively temporary. It is sure that another factor contributing to these editing controversy is trends and tastes of the public.

As mentioned above, it is not fare to ask responsibility to only one of them. It is true for production crews to pay attention to editing and running time of the program for gaining a larger audience. In the process, situations and actions they make intentionally reflect negatively on viewers. The previously mentioned programs that deal with a struggle for survival are very sensitive due to the nature of this program. Because of this feature, these programs have caused a lot of controversies. Considering the overall situation, the blame for editing problems could be laid at the door of the both production crews and viewers.

This controversy of editing proposed the direction to both of them. Broadcasters should make their program escape from sweet devil's whisper with their traits. From now on, I wish broadcasters make sure that the program presents real aspects through honest editing. Also, viewers have to be smart and skeptical so that they are not to be swayed from stimulus made by the press.
