Ho-Hyun Lee, staff of Korea TOEIC Committee, explained usefulness of TOEIC and TOEIC speaking.
Before the second quarter company recruiting season begins, a free lecture on TOEIC Speaking was held last April 17 at Cheonan Campus. Ho-Hyun Lee, who belongs to the Korea TOEIC Committee and Mi-Lyoung Lee, who teaches TOEIC speaking at an academy, held the lecture.
Ho-Hyun Lee told participants about the usefulness of TOEIC and TOEIC speaking and how companies use the score. He also told listeners about some ranges of TOEIC scores basically needed to get a job.
In Korea, 92.8% of the top 1000 companies use TOEIC scores in recruitment. Moreover, major companies, like Samsung, LG, Doosan, Posco, GS, SK, KT and Asiana Airlines use the TOEIC speaking score.
Ho-Hyun Lee presented data suggesting that people who want to find employment have about 800 points on TOEIC and level 6 in TOEIC speaking on average. He emphasized TOEIC and proficiency in English again. Mi-Lyoung Lee explained the questions on the TOEIC speaking test by each type and useful skills for how to respond. Both lecturers gave out CDs and handouts, which were helpful to students in studying for the TOEIC and TOEIC speaking tests.
