DKU Earns Bronze Medal at Cheonan Folk Festival

Dankook University (DKU) was awarded a bronze medal at the 2015 Cheonan Folk Festival. This was the 12th anniversary of the festival which began in 2004. This year’s event was held from Oct. 7 to 11. About 178 teams, and 5000 people participated in the event’s four categories of student, general, traditional, and elderly.

The street parade, which was the highlight of the festival, saw 2000 people from 19 different countries parade their symbolic icons and traditional folk dances. DKU performed perfectly in the street parade and was awarded a bronze medal for their efforts. City official said 195 volunteers took part in the festival working as interpreters, staff, and traffic management. The festival was a huge success and local citizens touted that this was a very good opportunity for many participants come and share their cultures from various countries.
