The president of Dankook University (DKU) Chang Ho-sung was elected as next term chairperson of the Korean Council for University Education (KCUE) on January 24. The council elects the chairperson annually in order of president of private university for 2 years and public university’s’ for a year. In the order, the Korean Association of Private University Presidents had the president Chang for Chairperson of the KCUE, and the president Chang officially begins his term as chairperson of the KCUE from April 8, for 2 years.
The KCUE was established in 1982 for having a healthy growth of a university education by mutual cooperation among the universities in South Korea. The members of the council are from 202 universities, and freely express themselves on the pending issues of the universities in the council. Moreover, the council attend to develop education system, and to make a study about student recruiting system in a university. The president Chang, who has taken office as the 15th to 17th president of DKU, delivered “Nevertheless, the universities are in the difficult surroundings in these days, I will try to express the opinions of universities to government and also government branches.” in an acceptance speech.
