College of Humanities Student Council of Dankook University (DKU) held the Agora of Humanities College to discuss university reorganization and share Dankookians’ (students of DKU) opinions, on September 8, 2017.
First, they started with apology to undergraduates, because they did not deliver the information during last vacation when the reorganization was begun to be official by school administrations.
Then there was Briefing in the agora; explanation about Second Period University Structural Reform Evaluation presented by the Ministry of Education August 28, and reforming plan of college structures of DKU administration. According to this, even though the new policy of the government has less influence on universities’ structural adjustments, DKU still has forced to merge specific departments.
After the briefing, there was Q&A Time and discussion between the council and students attending the agora. In the end of long-time discussion, they agreed with the main problem is lack of communication between DKU and Dankookians, which also causes splits among students depending on having different interests with their majors.
They concluded, therefore, each college in DKU desperately needs many Dankookian’s participation to share various opinions to stand up against DKU’s unfair reorganization. This may be the first big step to achieve Dankookians’ rights as a decent university student.
