¡ã Pyo Chang-won explains the importance of the youth's participation in the Korean politics |
on September 26, Department of Political Science and International Relations arranged a special meeting with the congressman Pyo Chang-won. Mr. Pyo gave a speech to about 150 students, to encourage the undergraduates to pay more attention to the political issues.
Even though Mr. Pyo identified himself as a politician of the old generation, he criticized that the old generation is trying to keep the youth's interest away from politics by using unjust policies and social crisis like unemployment problems. They are corrupt, privileged, and firmly attached to the vested class in the Korean society, which is why the group is afraid of the young voices bringing reformation. Mr. Pyo also suggested that congresspersons should try harder to solve problems that the youth are to make a better future. At the end of lecture, audiences shared their opinions about the current issues such as North Korea continuously committing nuclear tests with Mr. Pyo.
