On November 8, at the Nan-Pa Concert Hall at Dankook University (DKU), the Orchestra Festival, as one of the programs in Music festival was held to celebrate the 70th anniversary of DKU with the local community. This festival was organized by professors, students and alumnus, moreover, invited residents to give fresh energy to the local community. Even though it was a weekday evening, many visitors came and enjoyed the concert. In the opening ceremony, Hong Sung-eun, a professor and president of College of Music, delivered a greeting speech.
First performance was conducted by Kim Deok-gi, a professor of Seoul National University, also alumnus of DKU. He leaded Tannhauser Overture of R. Wagner. Professor Kim’s passionate conducting and the beautiful melody of players impressed the audience. Thereafter, Orchestra played Concerto for Two Pianos & Orchestra in d minor FP 61 of F. Poulenc and L’Oiseau de Feu of Stravinsky. Moreover, there was orchestral playing fused with Korean traditional instruments.
