A suicide prevention campaign was held by Dankook University’s Counselling Center on October 1st, in collaboration with the Yongin Suicide Prevention Center. The campaign was filled with various psychological tests and other activities to recognize and share the importance of life, and suicide prevention.

¡ã Students taking different quizes and tests.

At the “psychology” booth, psychology tests targeted towards communication style, emotional IQ, relationship style and “desire” test. All the tests are designed for different purposes, so students can get to know themselves better in every aspect. There were also test that are about depression, anxiety and stress level. As these levels are a direct output of our emotions lately, it reflects our mental health. Some students with an unhealthy level were recommended for counselling sessions to help them out as well.

¡ã Students creating suicide prevention badges.

There was also an “empathy” booth. Students get to write a letter to themselves, or to a friend or family member. It was a chance to express thoughts that we couldn’t through talking. The counselling center also conducted a survey on what causes suicidal thoughts or what causes stress. For some, it was the academics, and for some it was relationships.

¡ã Survey on "Which kind of words would you like to hear from your friends and family if you are having suicidal thoughts?".

For the last booth, “experience”, students got to design and make batches for suicide awareness and try out special glasses that stimulate the effects of alcohol on our eyesight and brain. This is to raise awareness for drunk driving as well. There was also an “OX” quiz on suicide prevention. It was eye-opening to students as they got to learn the do’s and don’ts towards a suicidal person, and this will hopefully let them be able to help someone in the future.
