A lecture by the novelist Kim Hoon was held on November 14, at the Students’ Theater in Hyedang Hall. During the lecture, Kim Hoon gave us a lecture about ‘Writing of My Life’. He said that humanistic values can’t be an answer to the problems of the world. In other words, we need natural science to understand the structure of the world as well as humanistic values to raise a question about reality. The fundamental matter of his writing is whether a human can escape from the law of the jungle.

He explained that there are four ways for human to change the world; the weapon, musical instrument, language, and tool. Weapons can destroy the world and change it to suit the interest of people who have them. A musical instrument can change the world by creating a beauty that didn’t exist before. Language can also change the world by actualizing the reason and communication of human.
He concluded that writing is to oppose the violence of the world. After the lecture, Kim Hoon had a Q&A session with the audience. In addition, he had a book signing event and took a picture with the students.
