Dankook University (DKU) will take the lead in training smart city experts with Microsoft Korea and Naver. Dankookians (Students of DKU) can apply through ‘Smart City Online Campus’ from March 29. Kim Jae-ho, director of the Continuing Education Center, will present a lecture on fostering smart city experts who solve urban problems by using the 4th industrial revolution technologies such as AI and big data through the ‘Smart City Online Campus.’ Learners will be able to complete the business ability courses offered by Microsoft Korea (MS) and Naver for free anytime and anywhere in a short period of time. In addition, if learners met standards for completion of each course, they are certificated as graduates, and they can apply for certification evaluation.

The online course will be open for 65 weeks in total. In particular, the course will also present a curriculum developed by Naver’s AI platform named ‘Clova.’ Furthermore, the practice process can be proceeded by using MS Azure (cloud solution). Smart City Online Campus developed curriculum and evaluation of the job competency model with 40 industry-academy-government experts, including Microsoft Korea and Naver. Director Kim said, “We will conduct training centered on practices and cases to train experts in various fields such as Living Lab, governance, AI services, and platforms.” and “We will find talented people to lead smart city innovation through core job certification evaluations which are suggested by MS and Naver."

Meanwhile, DKU was selected in June 2020 as the ‘Industrial Customized Short-Term Job Competency Matchup Program’ supported by MS, Naver, the Ministry of Education, and organized by the National Institute for Continuing Education Promotion. So, it has been positioned as a training hub for convergence and complex experts that covers design, construction, and management from smart city planning. The matchup is a project that develops and operates online-based learning courses and job competency evaluation, and certification models in which representative companies and educational institutions in the 4th industrial revolution work together.
