The upcoming Presidential election at Dankook University features a promising lineup of seven candidates to foster the institution towards excellence in the era of the 4.0 industry. On April 13 and 19, Dankook University Presidential Search Committee (DKUPSC) invited 7 candidates to select their respective numbers, along with a fair competition oath and declaration ceremony. Dankook University (DKU) proceed indirect election by DKUPSC’s suggestion about a presidential candidate to a corporate board of directors.

The results of the number selection process are as follows: Candidate Jeong Yun-se, from the Dept. of International Trade, drew the number 1. Candidate Kang Tae-sik, a professor in the Dept. of Music, received the number 2. Candidate An Sun-cheol, a professor at the Dept. of Political Science and International Relations, secured the number 3. Candidate Jeong Chang-deok, former President of Songho University (SHU), obtained the number 4. Candidate Park Beom-jo, a professor of the Dept. of Economics, was assigned the number 5. Candidate Lee Jae-hun, a professor of the Dept. of Architecture, claimed the number 6. Lastly, Candidate Lee U-geol, a professor of the Dept. of Chemical Engineering, was allocated the number 7.

DKUPSC aims to thoroughly evaluate all seven candidates by June 23. After the verification process, DKUPSC will narrow 7 candidates into 3 and select candidates based on the specificity and effectiveness of submitted documents and development plans, as well as the presentation of policy recommendations by July 5. The board of directors has scheduled a meeting on July 21 to determine the university's next President of DKU from the three candidates recommended by the DKUPSC. The next president of DKU’s term ends on August 27, 2027.

The Dankook Herald encourages Dankookians (students of DKU) to take a keen interest in this election and pay close attention to the candidates. It is an opportunity for the university community to actively engage in the decision-making process that will shape the future of their institution.
