Once in a while, you might have seen someone who silently eats their meal or who sits at their desk alone taking notes. The ones of the kind are so called 'outsider'. Especially to college students, the word may be familiar. A dictionary suggests that outsider is an antonym of 'Insider' and in sociology it's a contrary concept of Insider or We-group. If it is necessary to define outsider in a familiar way for college students, it is the one who doesn't participate in a school activities or who doesn't get along with and does activities alone. That is, Outsider is the one who is not found easily or who is not well recognized of it's existence. The word 'outsider' has a different meaning compared with the word 'Wang-tta' that might have heard till high school. Difference between Outsider and Wang-tta is that, while Wang-tta is an act of minority being left out by majority, Outsider is an act of a person not getting along with the majority by their own will. Then, what is the reason that they themselves want to be the minority?

All kinds of the type of the outsiders

¡ÜThe type of doing no activities in a school: This type is the most common. The outsider of this type do not take part in any activities such as a course's and a group's meeting, and school events instead of having class in school. The outsider is completely different from the students, who go to the room of their majors after class or in empty times. So, despite the same class, over 80 percentages of them do not recognize the presence of the outsider. The 5 days' routine of him among a week is just from his house to school and also from school to his house.

¡ÜThe type of fond of being alone: This type is the one who is originally barely fond of group activities or adapted to them. The outsider likes thinking and doing by himself. He takes part in the activities, which needed only for himself, however, is hesitate to get along with people even in the activities. So the peculiarity of the outsider is that surrounding people are familiar with his face, but they actually don't know well about him.

¡ÜThe type with comparative codes: Gag code, personality code, or playing code and so forth; For these reason, the outsider of this type go into the outsider's way because of his different 'codes' from his acquaintances. This outsider had efforts to get along with people. But, He walks into the way step by step due to the 'codes'. The outsider has acquaintances for helping his assignments or eating meals. The outsider, as if he may be recognized as a bat, has no a group of friends held together every day in a school, what is so called 'Family'. As a result, his presence is definitely low everywhere in a school.

¡ÜThe type of disliking having a drink: The outsider does not participate in any drinking party because of disliking having a drink. This type is somewhat rare. It is said that the outsider of the type has felt isolated when looking closer friends after a drinking party.

Outsider's talk! talk! talk!

Q1. A sophomore in Trade Q2. A sophomore in Russian language of literature

Q1: What advantage do you think as a outsider?

A1: I think the advantage is to use time effectively. If I do not join in an activity or a group, I don't need to lean to them. So, I can do what I want to do in my time.

Q1: Have you felt regretful that you are a outsider?

A1: I have never felt some regretful. When I see the ones who cannot do anything because they lean to school activities too much, I feel some well rather than regretful.

Q1: If you entered in school, might you enter into the way of the outsider again?

A1: Yes. If I entered in school, I should want to use my time more effectively.

Q2: What disadvantage do you think as a outsider?

A2: I have heard the saying that human relations are important in life. The disadvantage is not to be lack of human relations.

Q2: Have you felt regretful that you are a outsider?

A2: Yes, I have felt some regretful. In particular, I regret that surrounding people have meals and chatter together, while I have a meal alone.

Q2: If you entered in school, might you enter into the way of the outsider again?

A2: No. There is the merit as effective time management. But I feel loneliness and isolation a lot. If I entered in school, I should enjoy campus life with a lot of people by participating in groups or activities.

Outsiders by non-outsiders' view

Q1. A sophomore in Korean language of literature. Q2. A sophomore in Trade.

Q1: Do you think the outsider as whether positive or negative?

A1: I cannot say the answer is definitely negative. But It is not positive. I have never thought the outsider as positive or negative before.

Q1: Why do you think that?

A1: I think university is different from middle and high school. University students get years to judge and decide by themselves, and university is in the atmosphere. That is, I see that they are outsiders by their own decision and do what they have to do by themselves. For this reason, I am just indifferent to them rather than thinking them as negative, although they are not participate in course activities with us.

Q2: Do you think the outsider as whether positive or negative?

A2: I think the outsider as negative.

Q2: Why do you think that?

A2: Due to their bad self-management, they haven't friends in their surrounding. And as they make human relations well, they may also have troubles in society after graduation.

Q2: What points do you think outsiders have to change?

A2: I think they have better to moderately take part in any activities. Their behavior, which ignores notices about school activities and just sees them as unrelated things to them, is not good.

We can know the outsiders' own thinking about what they are a outsider and also non-outsiders' view about outsiders.

Ways of the escape of the outsider

¡ÜDon't be afraid of going to the room of your major!

Step1: Don't be worried about what do I do during empty hours after class.

Step2: Do not be hesitate to go to the room of your major.

Step3: Greet with people in the room after opening the door.

Step4: Sit at a vacant seat without doing mind to eyes.

Step5: Don't just sit with doing nothing. Talk people about any topics.

Step6: As a result, be going to be friends with people gradually.

¡ÜTaking part in MT!

Step1: Answer the message to call for the participation of MT.

Step2: Practice any shows for the MT.

Step3: Introduce yourself in the bus on the way of the destination.

Step4: Aggressively join in all plays. and Do show you practiced.

Step5: Get along with people more friendly by drinking together and talking with truth.

¡ÜParticipating in an academy! It kills two birds with one stone; doing study and scape of the outsider.

Step1: Find the mail professor of your major and tell his or her to participate.

Step2: Participate in the academy without absent.

Step3: Talk naturally with the people of the academy about the academy.

Step4: Don't absent in a mealtime or a drinking party after the academy. Make more relations with people there.

¡ÜNot sitting alone in class!

Step1: Find whether there is a vacant next seat just after entering into a classroom.

Step2: Don't be hesitate to sit the vacancy. (Having no book is a good excuse.)

Step3: Question what you don't know.

Step4: Make a relation by having conversations in coffee time.

Finally, we report the ways of the escape funnily. As mentioned above, we say outsiders are somewhat different and 'special' ones, by defining the outsider as "Outsider is the one who is not found easily or who is not well recognized of it's existence.", reporting a variety of the types of outsiders, and interview outsiders in person. But, the important point is that we respect differences and acknowledge each other, for we all are, outsiders as well as non-outsiders, in a community: University.
