This year, The Dankook Herald of Dankook University turns 38 years old. Moving the campus from Hannam to Jukjeon, and with Cheonan, DKH has lived with these changes. DKH works with both campuses, which makes us different other schools. We have fought to get over the differences between the campuses and harmonized by publishing English newspapers together. It was tough staying up all night writing our stories and to complete our paper by the tight deadline, but we did it for our Dankookians. When we look around our campus and see our students reading our papers, we feel that our efforts were not wasted. 2010 brings a new beginning and an unsatisfactory end for us. With this feeling of unsatisfactory and the new beginning, we will focus on the ‘Herald’ in the Herald Focus. Let us begin!

(Kicker: Subtitle, the category of the article)

The process of making DKH

1. The editorial meeting: As the saying goes, "A good start is half the battle." Our entire work begins with this meeting. It's the process in which we choose the items for each kicker, so it is the most important part of our work. We propose items for each kicker according to its characteristics. Through a competition, we choose the best ideas for each kicker. Therefore, the meeting is a kind of like war for DKH reporters.

2. Deadline for Korean articles: You may think the reporters only write Korean articles, but it’s not true! Until the deadline, we interview, conduct surveys and gather information, and write Korean articles based on these data. Normally, it takes 10 to 14 days. Although the articles take a long time, our articles are turned down if Korean articles are not logical or low quality.

- An episode about an interview-
When 2PM was a new group, DKH recognized them. Now they are so popular that they are called 'wild idols’ which refers to tough and muscular male singers. Now, our homepage does not get the highest surf record as it did at that time. One of the reporters who did the interview complained to 2PM because he was so out of style in the photo with 2PM. He said "I don't want to see that photo anymore." By the way, thank you Taec-Yeon and Jae-Bum for accepting the interview! And we want to see you again Jae-Bum!

3. Deadline for English articles: When the deadlines for the Korean articles are over, the English writing begins. It is the heart of DKH work. All the reporters go through this difficult time with dictionary as if they were our friends. This process takes 4 to 5 days. During this period, reporters each other’s articles and promote their friendships too. It's like killing two birds with one stone.

4. Proofreading: Two Korean English experts correct our awkward English articles. Reporters can check what mistakes they made by comparing proofread articles with theirs.

5. Lay-out: This is a process of designing the pages of the magazine. Most of the students think that the lay-out is made by presswork. But, that is not true. Normally the reporters design their article's lay-out

6. Visiting the presswork: This process is where professional designers make our newspaper based

on our lay-out design. At this time, all reporters check out the sample to see if there are any mistakes. Also, we check in detail the lay-out to make the final sample for printing.

7. Publication: When magazines are delivered at school, we distribute them on every building. If the work we did till now was using our mind, this work would be considered using our body, but it is not over yet.

8. Review meeting: For the joint review, we share our opinions about the articles of newspaper. This is why the distribution is not the end of our work. In this process, we talk about how we felt about each article, both the good and the bad. Most reviews are critical. So, it can be said that it is growing pains for reporters to hear bad reviews.
