"I usually take a class in the morning, and after class, I participate in student council meeting. After all of them finished, I always go to pub for drinking."

"Library-Class-Library-Sleep, this is all of my life"

"I go straight to part-time job after class. So I always have no enough time"

It already has been third month since the new semester began. Now, freshmen who were unfamiliar with everything at first have adapted to university life, and then they would get their own university lifestyles. This article will talk about Dankookians’ university lifestyle types.

In the poll, Commute type got 63 votes(23%), Studying hard type got 16 votes(6%), Outsider type got 76 votes(27%), Love department type got 18votes (6%), Worker type got 50 votes (18%), Guest type is 55votes (20%).

¢ºAs a result of the poll on the students' university lifestyle, most students said that they are Commute type. Followings were Studying hard type, Outsider type, Department type and Ghost type and the lowest type in the poll was Worker type. The one thing should be noticed is that unexpectedly, many people confessed that they are in outsider type by themselves. Let’s find out, what features do each university lifestyle type has?

¨ç Commute type - Most Dankookians said “I am in the Commute type.” Those who belong to this type are always tired, because they should wake up early and spend a lot of time on the bus or subway to attend their classes. And they sometimes take a nap during lectures and it is hard to appoint time for a group work. In addition, when they go out for a meeting or a party, they should worry about missing the last bus to go home. One girl who is in Commute type expressed dissatisfactions about her university life. “I can't do everything properly because I spend four hours a day on the bus.” Commute typers feel bored about their life because they should go home earlier than Cinderella who must leave before mid night. And they are disappointed with real university life, different from their imagination.

¨è Studying hard type - You can easily find Studying hard type people in library. After lectures, they go to library to review and preview for their study, and juniors and seniors study to get a job. Also, they always take the first row seats in the classroom to ask professors questions, and take notes diligently. Sometimes freshmen in Studying hard type attend department meetings, but their purpose of coming is not to make friends, but to get textbooks and information from seniors. However, it is only a small number. Most Studying hard types are juniors and seniors, who should apply for a job soon.

¨é Outsider type - Students in Outsider type show individualism well in university. Sometimes they go to student restaurants or library, too. But most of the time, they go home right after their classes. They use the Internet, especially school homepage and blogs to get university and study information, rather than from seniors and university friends. A Dankookian who answered “I am an Outsider” said “I spend most of my time in university alone. It is relaxing but sometimes I feel lonely.” Unexpectedly, many students said “I am a outsider,” but in other words, it means that many students spend time in university alone. However, there is also a substantial outsider type. They undergo various experiences through extracurricular activities. The reason why they go home early is not because they are alone. They take their own paths, in order to achieve their own goal. They aren't lonely, even though they walk down the road alone.

¨ê Department type - "Since I entered university, I've never arrived at home before 12 A. M." This is a freshman's saying in this type. They go around with department’s mates, seniors and juniors, because they regard the relationship with department mates as the most important thing in their university life. So they always participate in various department events such as Orientation(OT.) Membership Training(MT.) They don't care about the last bus or subway for going back home, because they have other places to stay on campus, which is a department room. They often sleep there. However, not all of them live this way. There are many diligent students. When they play, they play hard, but when they study, they study hard as well. A similar type is a Club type. Like Department type, they also like people and hanging out with them. Their background, department room and club room, is the only difference distinguishing them.

¨ë Worker type - We could find this type in convenient stores or restaurants around the university. They take lectures, join the club and hang out with friends. But they cannot participate in other events in the evening because of their part-time job. When we asked, “Why do you have to have a part-time job?”, one student replied, "Tuition fee is already a big burden to my parent, so I can't receive any living expenses." Another student said, "I'm in my 20s. I want to support myself without getting parents help." Most students in this type said that their lifes are very tough, but they are satisfied with their lifestyle.

¨ì Ghost type - They seemed like a ghost to others. It is certain that they are in the attendance list, but we can't find them. Because they don't really come to school. That is an only characteristic of them. This type of students suddenly drop out of university or go abroad to study. The students who are celebrities like TOP, Chae-Young Lee, Taec-Yeon Ok can be seen as this type.

What do you think? Which type do you belong to? Of course, we can't categorize all students with those six types. According to one's priority, various types of students exist. Then, what is your priority? Relationship with people? Study? Spec for getting a job? Drinking party? Outside activity? Hobby? Whatever it is, think about how that priority is making your college life. If you are unsatisfied with your lifestyle now, then find your precious thing and reset your own goal. Your university life which has been boring will be meaningful and delightful.
