"Wow! Our school is on the community web-site named N! And it's on the headline!" A student wrote a letter on 'Woongsung-woongsung'(Dankook University community). Checking the web-site named N, and then what was in there? There were long writings related to our school. The writings were "Writer's known person has managed a bookstore in our school since our school was moved Seoul to Jukjeon. But suddenly, another bookstore company wants to manage all of the bookstore, stationery store, and glasses store. So, if the ex-manager wants to maintain the store, they have to give a huge amount of money to our school. The conclusion is that the school kicked out the ex-managers because of the money." Internet users left some various replies like "Passing the Hyedang Hall, I thought it was remodeling, but it wasn't!", "I'm so sad about the money is a priority to this place of learning." To know more about the construction, we visited the first floor of Hyedang Hall in which the past 3 stores were placed before. It was already under construction. We wanted to ask more about it, but we didn't know who was in charge of there. There were not any notices in there. When we called the ex-managers of bookstore and stationery store, they didn't receive our call or they felt confused and hesitated to answer about it. It seems like our school is hiding this problem.

¢º Danbi is trying to get organized before school starts. The bookstore, optical store, and the stationary are arranging their display.

Untie the Misunderstandings 1.

‣ Did Yonsei University students block a major company, moving into their school?

In the case of Yonsei Univ. that was mentioned on the community web-site named N, the writer said, Yonsei Univ. students association blocked a major bookstore. But it is a little bit different from the real reasons. They decided to review the decision because students' thoughts were not involved in this decision. This situation is a case rather blocking the major company for a minor company than considering more about students. A staff of Yonsei Univ. student association said, "Comparing Sulki Sam(original bookstore)'s remaining and the new bookstore's entering, we concluded Sulki Sam's remaining is the answer." For that reason, he explained "In the case of Sulki Sam, some parts of benefit money are used for students. However, on the contrary, in the case of the new book store, it is problem that their benefit money are only used for their company. Also, comparing the new bookstore's 3% reserve and Sulki Sam's 5% discount, Sulki Sam's remaining was better for our students."

Untie the Misunderstandings 2.

‣ But on the contrary, has our school scattered out the company for financial reasons?

There were a lot of comments agreeing that "The school cares only to be benefited." So to know the truth, we went to see the general affairs section as they were in charge of this project. The head of general affairs, explained that "What we planned was extension work, to use the space more effectively. But because it needed to shoulder extra cost, the suggestion we asked the existing facilities to help us on the plan could not be easily approved. The facilities who said 'yes' to the extension work and remodeling remains as they were. As the agreement had taken a long time, the work has been delayed. We had to have the construction finished before the semester begins. That was the only way to minimize the inconvenience for the students. So we had no choice but to make a contract with another company. Besides, the agreement has been terminated. The company before has lost nothing. Rather, the company which remains had some losses because they were ordered to take over all the stocks they had before. There are no problems using the bookstore or the stationary as you can find every good as before. The system remains still, so you can have a 10% discount on every book except major-related ones. For more, there are computers to search the internet and tables to enjoy books. I would call this an improvement in service and both facilities."

Untie the Misunderstandings 3.

‣ Has this been running a secret to hide from students?

We can see that the construction is far from being kept quiet. It has been a steady progress to be completed before the vacation ends, when the facilities are less used. About the fact that there were no notifications about the construction, the head of the general affairs said "I am sorry for not providing notice about the work. We were pressed on time as the schedule became too tight." and gave us an apology.

Looking on the truth of the text in site N, we could see the heart of school caring for students. A person concerned on the board about student welfare said "We thought that this was a better decision when we considered the advantage it will give to students, so we decided to follow their resolution. There were changes in company. But the same business still remains so there would not be many difficulties in using the facilities for students. I heard that in every ways the new company could give better service like there will be spaces to rest, like a book cafe. So we let it go on progress though it wasn't discussed with students. But if there are moves of inexpediences, we will discuss opposition."

Maybe the misunderstandings we took from this construction all came from the lack of communication. If we could have had more conversations with the school, we might have understood each other better.
