'Lighting Tomorrow' is the subject of this fair. Through this fair, Incheon is catching the attention of the world. Incheon is Korea's first free economic zone, so it comes into the spotlight as Asia's hub harbor. It is expected that this fair plays an important role as a new growth engine for one of the leading cities. For 80 days from August 7 to October 25, 137 countries participated at this fair which was the first world event for the global city fair. It provides various sights and unusual visions unlike other fairs.

The Street of the World Culture took a person's eye. There are multi-dimensional perspectives of the past, present, and future as well as the history, culture and environment of some 100 cities around the world. These made domestic visitors feel as if they are abroad. Each building had various designs and decorated articles which show everything of the culture of a country. Cheers came out from the mouth of foreigners: "It is various and impressive." The Teddy Bear Pavilion was the most jammed. An exhibition of works that expressed 30 cultures with lovely teddy bears lets visitors use the mind of a child.

The Global Company Pavilion in which many companies participated showed the life of a future city. Also people could experience the history of nearly 100 cities through the global city pavilion. Because the world paradigm of the 21st century is green growth or cleaner development, these future cities showed well the Green idea and allowed people to experience the present condition and new technology through advanced facilities. I think that trash may be spread in the streets, but they were cleanly arranged. And a thorough disinfection process for influenza, the fair gave safety to visitors. Theme theater, robot science pavilion, high-tech plaza and digital art festival showed marvelous things, and helped people understand actual developing science technology.

This fair has more meanings because of various international academic conferences; world-renowned scholars would participate in the conferences and inform us of the visions and problems of the future city. Also there were different festivals and events. Especially 'Girls' Generation,' one of the famous Korean singer groups, was appointed as spokesperson, so their many fans have a big interest in the fair. Famous top singer's performance, circus, hip-hop performance, teenager festival etc. were brightening the fair. Also people can experience Incheon's cultures in many areas of Incheon.

The world is no longer a place far away from us. Through various global events in Korea, we can recognize we are the world. In order to be a nation that leads the world, we should keep in mind that we need not only global events but also an awareness that we are one of the global citizens.
