‘Congratulation, Dankook University (DKU) celebrates 70th anniversary this year.’
The banners waved above my head when I entered the main gate of school. On March 2 2017, DKU celebrated its 70th anniversary and I took my first class as a freshman.

1. Campus
I live in Suwon, Gyeonggi-do thanks to the line Shinbundang, which opened on September 2011, I can go to school in the Jukjeon station from Suwon station within 30 minutes. Our campus not only has dormitories and colleges but also the Institute of Oriental Studies Laboratory and other affiliated laboratories. Nowadays, our school is constructing the 70th anniversary building and has invested 57 billion for rebuilding the College of Dentistry and the College of Dentistry Hospital in campus. When I passed by the College of Pharmacy, which was established in 2011 at Cheonan, I could see the herb garden beside the college. It allows direct medicinal plants resources inside the college and at the first sight hundreds of types of medicinal herb seemed to have grown directly in the school. This herb garden in our campus is the first herb garden, and there is the second in Cheongyang, Chungcheongnam-do.
The dormitory was completed in January of this year enabling accommodation for all freshman. Freshman must live in the dormitory in one semester. Also to enhance the health of students, our school built the Sports Complex in Jukjeon campus and Sports Park in Cheonan campus. Until last year, we had to use the sports facilities in the dormitory, but this year we can enjoy exercise in the sports building. As the sports building was opened this year, school will establish more diverse courses related with sports. Moreover, this building is available to local residents as well as students of DKU, and we expect the positive image of our  school.

2. Daily Life
When I entered one of the colleges, I could see a notice looking for students for the Teacher Certification Examination(TCE). Also students can get the information about daily curriculum and professors' students guide until the examination day which was quite different from a simple announcement. Therefore, the school has achieved an 80% employment rate thanks to this system. The classmate besides me entered university by a scouting entrance in my first major class. She can speak 5 languages and I could see that our school was making efforts to widen the enrollment of students like her. Scouting is one of the various methods for selecting excellent students like  the Admission Officer. This classmate also entered through the scouting entrance. Besides, I could see many foreign students come to study in our school. So all lectures are run only in English. It was very hard to see foreign students except Liberal Arts and Humanities before I enter the school. The vigorous long-planned sisterhoods relationships with different universities around the world, enable us to see foreign students in the classroom. I want to make foreign friends more than Korean students.

3. Interchange
Just six years ago, the number of exchange students was about ten students. Recently it has increased by 20 students because of vigorous sisterhoods relationships around the world. Also, the interest in voluntary service in underdeveloped countries is increasing among students even more, due to the public relations of the school. According to a class of 16 senior said "One of the class of 15 seniors in our major is doing a double major in the University of Sheffield in England. In the past, it was possible in DKU, but now you can go abroad to study as much as you like. So you can do a double major in sister universities around the world." It means that students can get bachelors degrees doing double majors in sister universities around the world or as an exchange student. I think the development of our school through the revitalization of international exchange is ensuring the development of all students too.
Apart from it, the revitalization has also been active in local exchange near the campus. The total of 15 service clubs in our school is participating in the 'International Cartoon & Art Festival 2017 (ICAFE)' as a volunteer of the festival. Thanks to our school support, service clubs and The Goyang Cultural Foundation have a cooperative system. Many volunteers students are participating in this festival.

4. Development
The Institute for Industry-Academy Cooperation (IIAC) was completed in Jukjeon in 2011. IIAC, the new technologies that helps small business founded in Gyeonggi-do, is an institution established by government with the aid of 1.7 billion. The National Project Support Building in Cheonan, like the Institute for IICA completed the end of last year. Two buildings helps natural sciences and engineering students to get a job, even if expends research space of professors. IIAC and National Project Support Building were established and by this the employment rate to expand the Technical Consultation Center and Business Incubating Center in Cheonan and Jukjeon. For the last ten years, the number of students and professors has been increasing the number of counsel services. Now, the school has supported ahead of graduation seniors to get a job through the Business Incubating Center(BIC). The BIC belongs to the Industry Academic Cooperation Foundation. Expanding the BIC has enlarged the number of students of different colleges in the field of life science. Also, the BIC works to actively support the establishment of venture business for school students.

The Dankook Herald (DKH) imagined the future image of the DKU 70th anniversary. DKU has always tried to accomplish this dream ‘VISION 2017 + Challenge & Creation’ since the mid-2000's. In the future, DKH wishes to jump up to be leading DKU in the world based on 'Phase Development Strategies.' Indeed, DKH hopes the 17th class freshmen look forward to this imaginary story in 2017.
