¡ã A picture at the top is an ex-version of iLoveDKU and

at the bottom is an updated version of ‘iLoveCampus.’

“The Whole World: 13% 19%, Republic of Korea: 2% 10%” These results are showing the percentage of Smart Phones which increased in threequarters
of 2010 in the world and Korea market. Smart Phones we thought of one or
two years ago, were for special people only. But we can easily see people who have Smart Phones and we won’t be surprised to ask “Have you bought a Smart Phone?” Gartner, Inc which is an information technology research and advisory company predicted the percentage of Smart Phones in the mobile phone market will increase to 40% by 2013. People want smart products which are more convenient and easy to carry so Smart Phones purchasing needs might
not decline easily.

Capturing this flow, Dankook University(DKU) is also making efforts like gathering students who will study processes in professional developer of iPhone Android and Samsung’s Bada Applications. As DKU is changing smartly, do you think dankookians’ also have to change? So, The Dankook Herald now will give thoughtful hands to help these students who use Smart Phones in DKU.

Do you pay money while using the internet by phone?

In DKU, students who use Smart Phones and laptop computers in school can use the wireless internet for free. But some students miss this chance as they don’t know the way to do it. So we investigated each Jukjeon and Cheonan campus about ‘How to use wireless internet for free.’

In the Jukjeon campus, they installed their own wireless LAN so we can simply
use Wi-Fi by a non-complicated process. Rather iPhone or Android phone, when
you turn on the Wi-Fi, two network addresses: DKU_WEB and DKU_1 will be exposed on your phone screen. To use DKU_WEB, enter each student number of
your ID, and the seven back numbers of your resident registration number for a
password. Now then, you can conveniently use the freestyle type of network.
DKU_1 is a coded network which needs secure connection so we can use Wi-Fi
more safety than DKU_WEB. But, there is a disadvantage that needs to set something inconveniently on the school homepage.

It is different with Jukjeon campus, Cheonan campus installed NESPOT (KT’s Wi-Fi LAN) in our school. Therefore, it is inconvenient but students have to use Wi-Fi by requesting some simple things. If you use KT Smart Phones including the iPhone, just call the KT customer service center number: 100 and then simply receive your ID! (Exceptionally, iPhone4 doesn’t need these process, it can use Wi-Fi right away.) If you are using a Smart Phone by other press association, you can receive and use local ID by following these steps.

[Access DKU homepage Wireless LAN Shortcut of ID Application MAC ID plication Enter your own Wi-Fi address Find NESPOT network and use Wi-Fi]

Including the iPhone, Smart Phones of KT can also receive a local ID. But the
problem like lack of ID can occur and it is so inconvenient to request an ID every four months. So I recommend using ID that KT issues to you.

All information about DKU is in the Smart Phone!

What if all the information that we need for school life was in a small Smart Phone? Can you imagine it? Here, I will introduce an application that you will like. That is, ‘ILoveCampus.’ In the early days, two dankookians made iLoveDKU and this application had the every information that was needed in DKU. For example, information about every day’s menu in the student cafeteria and dormitory cafeteria, searching for seats in the library reading room, school homepage notices and etc.

After that, by updating this application, now it is transferred to an application named ‘iLoveCampus’ which is combined with 50 universities. Download and operate ‘iLoveCampus’ and choose DKU(Jukjeon) or DKU(Cheonan). Then after, you
can taste these super amazing things right away. Additionally, DKU made a mobile homepage for students who use Smart Phones (http://m.dankook.ac.kr). So it will help student to access more conveniently when visiting the school’s homepage. Wireless internet: Wi-Fi can be used for free and without any limit by using a Smart Phone. With ‘iLoveCampus’ we can receive all the information that we need in our school. For these two reasons, I’m sure that dankookians will get enough help about using Smart Phones in school life. Also, If you have the mind and effort that wants to search for information which will help yourself, you have enough to get other things also. DKU is upgrading.

Especially, training experts in the mobile field and investment of developing applications suggests the reason; benefits about mobile will be increased by future
dankookians. For being a changing DKU by student and student’s movement, I
hope dankookians will have much more interest towards DKU.
