¡ã After finishing the volunteer work, we took a photo in front of Geunjeongjeon.

From November 11 to 12, I volunteered for the G20 Summit. Almost 5,000 volunteers were assigned in different fields of work. Personally, I wanted to be assigned to a Tourist Attraction and luckily, I was assigned where I wanted. Since then, I looked forward to the day of volunteer work with eager anticipation. My duty was guiding a tour in Gyeongbokgung. After finishing the on-line education
and orientation, my first working hour began on November 11.

I was on my way to Seoul with excitement but the weather was awful and it started to rain. I was worried because I had to work outside until the night. However, when I arrived at Gyeongbokgung I was a little bit surprised because there were numerous people to see the palace despite the weather. I kept
going my way to the meeting spot. Allmy team members had already arrived
beforehand. We introduced ourselves and then we looked round the place.

Our work was to help guiding foreigners around the palace. Unfortunately, we received a notice from the tour guide that they will arrive behind time. We couldn’t wait them and do nothing. So, our team started volunteering based on what we’ve learned. At first, I was shy volunteering among many people but, after all I explained them about the palace and even helping people to take pictures. The tour guidecalled back saying they were arriving  at the destination sooner. We moved on to the parking lot and waited for them. When the bus arrived, all foreigners ot off the bus and started to take pictures with cameras. Receiving the spotlight, Gyeongbokgung caught the eyes of every foreigner. Actually, I was assigned as Spanish volunteer but unluckily, most of foreigners who enrolled for the tour were English speakers so I did not have opportunity to speak in Spanish. However, with my English knowledge gained years of study, I could talk with them without any problem.

A Canadian man showed affection toward the palace saying “I heard this is the first time Gyeongbokgung is open at night for a hundred years because of the G20 Summit. I hope many people could see this marvelous cultural asset at least once a month at night.” The 12th was the last day of Gyeongbokgung opening at nighttime and there was a crowd of people. As I was wearing uniform and ID card, I could enter to the palace with no charge. Like yesterday, we helped
touring around Geungjeongjeon and Gyonghoeru. After finishing the tour, our group took a picture as a memory. Although the time was short, I wasproud of myself for being a helper in the G20 Summit. I’d like to participate more and more in these events to be ble to promote our country throughout the world.
