Nov. 3 is the ‘Student’s Day (Students’ Independence Movement Day)’ in Korea. It is a day for honoring ‘the Gwang-ju Students’ Independence Movement’ which happened in 1929.
On Oct. 30, 1929, Japanese Students harassed a Korean female student, and the incident became a trigger of an anti-Japanese movement on Nov. 3, 1929. This anniversary is made for fostering patriotism by awakening the spirit of the students’ independence movement to students. In addition, it is nationally made for reminding what young people have to do for the nation and society.
On Nov. 2, 68th Anniversary events of Dankook University (DKU) were held. DKU is established as a first opened four-year university after the independence from Japan. The school received accreditation founded on Nov. 1, 1947. Three days later, Nov. 3, 1947, school was opened in Nagwon-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul.

This events held in Music Hall, Jukjeon Campus. Chang Ho-sung (President of DKU), Chang Choong-sik (Chairman of DKU) and many other officials attended the events. There were awards for variety of people who contributed to university. Representatively, there were awards for the long serviced and the best staff in DKU.
