   On March 25, Dankook University (DKU) held an appointment ceremony for trainee reporters of the Dankook Media Center (DMC). The Dankook Herald (DKH), the DKU Newspaper, the Dankook Broadcasting Station (DKBS), and the DKU Newspaper video department (D: ON) gathered at the College of Industry-Academic Cooperation Convergence B101, Jukjeon Campus. The ceremony lasted for two hours, featuring the presentation of the DMC progress report, welcoming remarks from the chief editors of each media outlet, and a training session led by Professor Yang Young-yu, the head of the DMC.

   The DMC recruited 43 new trainee reporters this semester, with 14 from the DKU Newspaper, 7 from the D: ON, 10 from the DKH, and 6 from the Jukjeon and Cheonan DKBS each. The trainee reporters first had time for the investiture of press license and oath reciting. Kim Jae-sik (Junior, Russian Studies Major) of the DKU Newspaper, Sung Ah-hyun (Freshman, School of Media Communications) of the D: ON, Lee Dong-wook (Freshman, School of Electronics and Electrical Engineering) of the DKH, Lee Chae-yun (Sophomore, Advertising and Public Relations Major) of the Jukjeon DKBS, and Kim Chae-yeong (Freshman, Dept. of Psychology and Psychotherapy) of the Cheonan DKBS were awarded the press licenses representing other trainee reporters. In addition, Kim Seung-gun (Sophomore, Dept. of Korean Language and Literature) of the DKU Newspaper and Lee Ji-yoon (Freshman, Chinese Studies Major) of the Cheonan DKBS read the oath as representatives for all trainees.

 

   The trainee reporters, who came through a competition of 3 to 1, showed passion at the ceremony. In sequence, Professor Yang Young-yu shared his knowledge, hardened by his long career as a journalist, including the criteria for selecting article items and reporters’ habits and qualities. He also urged the collaboration of cross-media hereafter.

   The DKU Newspaper, the D: ON, the DKH, and the DKBS are stepping forward together in the changes of the 21st century with huge determination. The DKH will firmly support aspiring trainee reporters who hold the promise of a brilliant future for DKU.
