Fashion also plays a major role in making a good first impression. When people face each other, they gaze at the face first and then look down to the body slowly. That is why we cannot ignore it.

People should wear clothes according to the different environment.

- Dong-A Social Academy Education Soo-Kyung Kang, Deputy in Education

"In a situation like an interview in which the first impression is essential, you have to wear a neat outfit to give freshness and tidiness. More than anything else, you have to demonstrate your sincerity and confidence, so I don't recommend boisterous accessories. It's not appropriate to wear a glossy grey outfit which is now in fashion too. When you have to do a presentation, it can be a strategy to wear a stripe pattern of clothes or using a contrast of color to make a brainy image. But above all these things, I strongly believe the most important thing is that people should try different kind of fashion and figure out what items better suit you."

We interviewed two students who have good impression. Even though they are following their own fashion trend, they take more into consideration in the first meeting.

Interview with Jung-Min Seo, Dept. of Multimedia Engineering

1. What fashion style do you enjoy mostly?

I enjoy simple Hip-hop style that fits best to my body size. I wear T-shirts and jeans that don't bother me when I'm working and I also wear a New Era style hat.

2. What is your own style in Assuming TPO? (Time, Place, Occasion)

1) Places like party or for enjoying

A place like a party is dark and the light is flashing , so I choose clothes that focus on color. But, it is a place, where you can meet many people, so it's not a good idea to wear too tight or revealed clothes.

2) What do you wear when you go on a trip?

Generally I put sporty clothes. As an example, I wear transparent, rubber aqua colored shoes, an electronic watch and sun-glasses.

3. What is 'fashion' for you?

Fashion is a 'spotlight.' You should analyze yourself objectively and I think wearing your own fashion is the style that everyone acknowledges. Furthermore, it will give a good impression if you wear fashionably that which best suits you.

 An episode about first impression

It takes place in a TV program debate in 1960, when there was the 37th president election in the USA. At that time, there was contest between John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon. Voters were watching a debate between Nixon who had much potential in politics and the unknown-Kennedy, and were sure that Nixon would be elected. But the first broadcasted debate changed that pattern. The debate began and Kennedy shown through the camera was full of youth and confident. Kennedy's positive gesture and bright smile catched the voter's mind. However, Nixon looked tired and exhausted, wiping the sweat off his face. Consequently, the image of the person made a different result.
