Brokeback Mountain which was released a few years ago was issued by a sad love story between the same gender. If this love story existed in the Joseon Dynasty period, and there were much more shocking love stories than today, can you believe? Even though the Joseon Dynasty period didn't admit free loves for men and women, not to mention, love between the same gender, they must had been some in that era! You know, we cannot conceal instinct especially about love. Actually, there were many more people who enjoyed living a disorderly and immoral life than we expected. You can think that this situation may be the same as human beings desire for something forbidden. The book, The 16 Love Story Shaking Violently the Joseon Dynasty Era, doesn't simply cover romantic stories as material, but it helps us to approach history with new and different viewpoints.

Have you ever heard that there was a prince who gave up his everything for only love? You may say 'It is impossible to happen in the Joseon Dynasty period!' However the romantist really existed! Can you believe it? The very romantist is the crown prince, Yang-Young. Actually, in A True Record of the Joseon Dynasty, there was no record saying he was dethroned. The record just reveals that he wasn't smarter than his brother; thus, he gave his crown prince to his brother. But the true reason was because of immoral intimacy with a married woman. We wonder about the history we had learned. In other words, we can identify something hidden in the history we had learned fragmentarily through love story of those days. However, the things we can say is that he was a hot romantist of the Joseon Dynasty!

Also, you may see a scene of drama Chuno that escaped slaves were chased. In reality, there were quite a few slaves who ran away from his master and marry to civilians by looking at the marriage between slave 'Buguem' and woman of civilian 'Gai' during King Sejong period, But this is something hidden in this story! What is it? You know, in the Joseon Dynasty, civilian men could make his slaves as concubines but civilian men couldn't fall in love with slaves. So, this should not have happened and meant execution by beheading. This case makes us reconsider the problem of patriarchal society based on Confucianism. If you read this book, you can notice there is one common thing in each story - main characters contained in this book protested against a closed society and they needed to escape for their free love! We may think that a closed society made them commit secret love stories like the title of this book.

The author of this book said "I hope that many readers will be able to enjoy history with different views through this book, because history was introduced by various classes." But, it is pity that love story, this book's main theme, focus on royal family or the nobles. This part makes me disappointed. Though, it is clear that this book will help the reader's approach to history in a microscopic way. Namely, it makes you analyze history with new and different ways. This book makes you people came from a new world!
